Testing and certification

The ICe BAG bags have been tested in independent laboratories to verify their ability to contain a lithium battery deflagration and reduce fire spread.

🔥 Thermal runaway test

The ICe BAG bags have been tested in an independent laboratory against a real lithium battery thermal runaway: several cells are forced into thermal runaway with the scooter inside the bag and the behaviour is observed.

Result: no flame spread to the outside and low smoke emission, with no rupture of the bag.

✅ Fire resistance UL 94 5VA

The bags' fabric, made of silicone-coated fiberglass, has obtained the UL 94 5VA classification, the most demanding of this flammability standard.

It means the material does not propagate combustion nor drip flaming particles when exposed to fire.

Multi-layer structure

The fireproof behaviour of the ICe BAG does not come from a single material, but from the combination of several layers working together to absorb heat, reflect it and contain the deflagration.

Outer layer

Silicone-coated fiberglass (classified UL 94 5VA). Withstands direct flame and keeps the bag intact.

Insulating core

High-density fiberglass with a reflective aluminium layer, which absorbs heat and reflects thermal radiation back inwards.

Seams and closures

Fireproof thread in the seams and a fireproof zip, the critical points for the bag to stay closed during the incident.

Registered patents

The design of the ICe BAG bags is protected by two registered patents, covering the multi-layer structural configuration and the opening system to charge the scooter inside the bag without compromising containment.

Fireproof blankets

In addition to the bags, we offer fireproof blankets made of fire-resistant material (silicone-coated fiberglass) to smother and cover fire sources.

The ICe BAG is an additional containment layer designed to help reduce the spread of a lithium battery fire. It does not replace a smoke detector, a fire extinguisher or an evacuation protocol.
